State health chief Alan Levine said last week he is considering legal action to sidetrack efforts by key Democratic leaders in the U.S. Congress to get special treatment for their states in federal health-care proposals.
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid inserted language in a key health- care bill that would protect Nevada and a handful of other states from increased costs associated with expansion of Medicaid — the government’s health insurance program for the poor.
Reid claimed it was because of “special circumstances” in Nevada tied to economic woes.
