Old Capitol Showcases New Look (Pro-Long, Anti-Long On Display)

"Few years ago, we were talking about the future of the building and what it will bring to the citizens of Louisiana and we thought we needed some changes and some flare to excite the young audience," Old State Capitol Executive Director Mary Louise Prudhomme said.

Prudhomme, who has been in her position since 1990, said her jaw dropped the first time she toured the new exhibit. "The hardest part of the process was renovating and keeping the historical significance of the building, but the first time I walked through it really blew me away."

Included in the new exhibit's design is a brand-new rotunda area displaying paintings of all Louisiana governors and a room that includes a digital hologram of Huey P. Long delivering some of his most famous speeches. Also is an entire room split in half. On one side is the history and political views of the Anti-Longs, and on the other side a demonstration of the Pro-Long agenda.
