St. John the Baptist Parish administrators will ask council members to cancel several contracts tied to former Parish President Bill Hubbard's guilty plea to a federal bribery charge. On the advice of St. John District Attorney Tom Daley, administrators want the Parish Council to terminate contracts with three companies at Tuesday's regular meeting. If council members agree, parish officials will evoke a 30-day cancellation clause in each of the agreements with Pipeworks Plumbing & Demolition, Parson & Sanderson and Davezac Consulting Engineers, said Buddy Boe, acting chief administrative officer. Daley didn't give a specific reason for his recommendation, only that the contractors have been identified as having provided "payments for the personal benefit of the past parish president." The companies have been paid a total of $277,133 in 2008 and more than $1 million this year, according to parish records.
