A newly released Southern Media and Opinion Research poll in the north Louisiana Supreme Court race shows Jimmy Faircloth now leading Judge Marcus Clark, 35-22 percent. The 400-sample poll was taken Sept. 25.
The poll movement fron dead heat to 13% behind seems to be related to the revelations from Clark's sanction by the Louisiana Supreme Court. Clark was given a 30-day suspension for questionable unethical activity.
Last week, the Judicial Campaign Oversight Committee, set up by the Supreme Court, issued a news release saying Clark misrepresented the Supreme Court's reasons for sanctioning him in his campaign advertising.
Earlier in the campaign the Ouachita parish sheriff clearly violated the election laws by using his taxpayer funded website and newsletter to tout his endorsement of Clark. A few days ago Attorney General Buddy Caldwell issued a ridiculous ruling saying this activity was OK.
Caldwell should either rescind the ruling or resign!
