A United Nations advisory group leader said Wednesday that the panel had met many New Orleanians discouraged by squalid or tenuous housing situations. "They feel like they've been abandoned by their government," said Leilani Farha, director of a low-income-housing advocacy group in Ontario, Canada, who led a five-member entourage to New Orleans this week to interview people who have lost affordable housing. The group plans to report its findings to UN-HABITAT, a United Nations agency charged with monitoring poverty and housing.
