The governor talks about building a knowledge-based work force, but he cuts the colleges that are supposed to be educating that work force. That’s a direct consequence, as college leaders said this year, of tax-cut mania in the administration.
In his budget speech to the Press Club of Baton Rouge, Jindal enjoined the Legislature to be fiscally responsible and avoid eroding the state’s tax base with breaks that are not funded by cuts in the budget.
But PAR’s “told you so” correctly notes the failure of the state’s leaders to look ahead. They can’t say they weren’t warned.
