Unrest continued Saturday over the top leadership of the state Democratic Party in the wake of state and federal election losses to Republicans. But an attempt to oust Democratic Party Chairman Chris Whittington fizzled.
The ouster effort was derailed as party hierarchy ruled that parliamentary guidelines were not followed at the party’s State Central Committee. It marked the second straight meeting where Whittington has been the target of criticism and ouster talk.
“There’s a revolution going on,” said committee member state Rep. Sam Jones, D-Franklin. “It’s just not going to happen today.”
